What is up?! Welcome Back! This week we made a DIY Stocking Post and a North Pole! For those of us that don't have a fireplace, we HAVE to have a place to hang those stockings! So we made a post with enough hooks to hold at least 12 stockings! We also re-purposed a hanging sign to make a North Pole post for our front porch! Come take a look at how easy these are to make!
Step 1: Gather Your Materials! – We used plans for the Stocking Post from https://www.shadesofblueinteriors.com/diy-stocking-post/ And for Garrett’s North Pole: 1 - Turned Porch Post 1 - 1x12x48 1 - 1x8x48 1 - Hanging Sign (found on clearance) 2 – 4x4 post trim Step 2: Make Your Cuts Garrett’s: Cut two 1x12’s at 11.25” to make two identical size squares and cut two 1x8’s to make two squares. Step 3: Put it together! Garrett’s: Glue the 1x12’s together to make a 2x12. Glue the 1x8’s together to make a 2x8. Mark the center of each square and drill an 1/8” hole in the center of each. We used a 3”deck screw to attach the stacked 8” and 12” bases to the bottom of the post. Step 4: Paint! Garrett’s: We used Waverly Chalk Paints in Pioneer Red, White, and Ink. Step 5: Add the Accents! (say it with your best French accent) Kim’s: We added a red and white candy cane striped bow. Garrett’s: We found a hanging sign on clearance. Garrett painted it white and added a North Pole vinyl decal. We cut it using our Cricut Maker using Adhesive Vinyl – Red & Black. |
