The Easiest DIY Ottoman Coffee Table

1/24/2020

Comments

This weeks project was a bit personal. Well, it was out of necessity. We built an ottoman waterfall table! What is that you say? It's a table that goes over our ottoman which turns it into a coffee table. This project was so easy (one cut) we had to use our X-Carve to add some flair. Come take a look, maybe you need and ottoman waterfall table too!

$25 Giant Farmhouse Sign with Cricut Stencil

1/17/2020

Comments

This week we created some quick and easy home décor! Our project was inspired by a viewer comment. Our favorite family movie is Fantastic Mr. Fox. And if you’ve watched our channel for a while, you may have noticed we usually have some kind of fox in our backdrop. We created a farmhouse wood sign using one of our favorite quotes from the movie…. “We’re all different, Him Especially. But there’s something kind of fantastic about that, isn’t there?” This one was so easy and only required a handsaw for two cuts! #GarrettisMrFox

Cricut Maker Engraving

1/10/2020

Comments

It’s the beginning of the year and there are so many new Cricut users!  This week, we thought we’d be part of the new Cricut crew and try something new ourselves!  The Cricut Engraving tool! Garrett wants a laser engraver and I told him we should see what kind of engraving the Cricut can do!  So, we found several different mediums and started engraving! Some turned out beautifully…some not so much!

Giant DIY Pegboard Wall

1/3/2020

Comments

Organization was this inspiration for this project!  It started with a need to organize my vinyl and turned into a full wall of storage!  This easy DIY Pegboard Wall has provided functional, changeable décor for our craft room!  We can add, remove and move any part of the shelves and pegs to make this wall fit our needs and always provides a whole new look!  I love it! This has quickly become one of our all-time favorite DIY projects!

Step 1:  Gather Your Materials
1 – 4’ x 8’ sheet of birch plywood
4 – 1” dowel rods
3 – 2” x 6” x 8’ Pine Common Boards
3 – 1” x 2” x 8’ Pine Common Boards
Polycrylic Clear Gloss Protective Finish
Kreg Jig
Kreg Jig Screws
Sand Paper – 120 grit

Step 2: Make Your Cuts
- Cut the plywood into 3 equal sections at 32”.  We had our local home improvement store cut ours.
- Cut the dowel rods at 6 ¾”, approximately 7 per 8’ board.
- We cut various shelves from our 1”x 6” at 16”, 24” and 32”
- We cut our 1” x 2” at 30”, three for each board.
- Cut 1” holes using a hole saw bit, starting at 4” down and every 8” across and 8” down.

Step 3: Stain
- We stained our Pegboard with clear Polycrylic for a natural finish.

Step 4: Assembly
- We placed our 1” x 2”’s on the wall as mounting boards.  We hung them so that they landed at 7”, 24” and 40” inches down on the back of the Pegboard.  We drilled them into studs for extra security and where there wasn’t a stud we used a drywall toggle bolt.
- We screwed the plywood pegboard to the mounting brackets using 1” wood screws.

Step 5: Organize!
- We created the vinyl storage space by drilling a hole in two pegs and stretching bungee cord between them.  We used a 1” x 3” x 30” board as the shelf for the vinyl to sit on.
- We also created a little box to slide onto the pegs to hold vinyl using 1” x 3”’s and 2 pipe straps.
- For additional storage we added a basket to the bottom pegs to hold our extra pegs!
